A little further than yesterday
What One Step is, why it exists, and how it's built.
The idea
Most habit trackers treat every day as pass or fail: you either did the whole thing, or you broke the streak. That's a discouraging way to build a habit, and it's not how real progress actually works.
One Step is built around a smaller unit of success. Every habit has a Full Goal and a First Step โ a scaled-down version of the same action. Read 20 pages, or read 10. Run three miles, or put your shoes on and walk to the corner. Hitting the First Step still counts. It still keeps the chain going. The idea is simple: a smaller step taken is worth more than a bigger step skipped.
Over weeks and months, those small, honest steps compound into something bigger than any single day of willpower could produce.
What's inside
- Habits โ track daily habits with a Full Goal and a First Step, and watch your streak build over a rolling calendar.
- Agenda โ plan one-off and recurring tasks by day, with priorities and reminders.
- Notes โ quick notes, checklists, and images, organized and searchable in one place.
- Vitals โ an optional log for symptoms and how you're feeling day to day.
- Calendar โ a month-at-a-glance view of everything you've logged.
Built to stay out of your way
One Step is a Progressive Web App: it installs straight from your browser, works offline, and syncs your data across your devices when you're signed in. There's no separate app-store download required.
Your habits, notes, and vitals are yours โ you can export everything at any time. For details on what's collected and how it's used, see the Privacy Policy.
Questions or feedback?
One Step is actively maintained and shaped by the people who use it. If something's confusing, broken, or missing, get in touch โ real feedback is how it gets better.
